Saguaro: A Great Starting Point for Barefoot Shoe Newbies

If you’re new to the world of barefoot shoes, Saguaro is an great brand to begin your journey with. Their affordability makes them accessible to a wide range of people, meaning you won’t have to break the bank to try out this new style of footwear. Moreover, Saguaro offers a generous size range from 24 to 48, making it a suitable option for the entire family.

One notable feature of Saguaro shoes is their thicker insoles, which are present in some models. The thickness of these insoles varies across different models, and some even include a heel rise and/or arch support. This extra cushioning and support offer added comfort for those new to barefoot shoes, easing the transition from traditional footwear.

As you become more accustomed to the barefoot experience, we suggest removing the insole or replacing it with a zero-drop insole. This adjustment allows you to tailor the shoes to your progress and preferences.

For children’s shoes, we recommend switching the insoles from the outset, as kids typically have an easier time transitioning to barefoot shoes.

Where to Buy Saguaro Barefoot Shoes

Saguaro shoes can be conveniently purchased through their official website, which offers three different language options. If you are located in the United States, we recommend sticking to the English version. For customers in the European Union, it is advised to switch to the German or Spanish flag in order to select an EU shipping address. This ensures a seamless shopping experience tailored to your location.

For those in South America, Saguaro Chile provides a dedicated website. Although some Saguaro models are available on amazon.com and amazon.de, the most affordable prices are usually found on their official site.

Periodic sales offer additional savings on select styles, and using our discount code BU15 grants an extra 15% off. However, during sales, their most popular styles tend to sell out quickly, so act fast!

Finding the Right Size and Fit for Your Saguaro Shoes

Saguaro shoes feature a foot-shaped toe box that is best suited for medium and medium-wide feet (some also for wide). The fit can vary slightly between models, but most of them can be adjusted well to accommodate different foot volumes.

It’s worth noting that their beach and water shoes have a slight taper at the tip of the toes. Additionally, some of their kids shoes could benefit from an improved toe box shape, as they also have a small taper at the big toe. If you’re purchasing for children, consider this tapering, as it may result in a narrower fit.

Saguaro shoes are available in sizes 24-48, with no distinction between men’s and women’s widths. However, some colors are exclusive to smaller “women’s” sizes. Each model has its own size chart, so be sure to consult it before ordering.

The size charts provide the appropriate foot length, but sometimes it’s best to treat this value as the internal length of the shoes. We recommend selecting shoes that are 10-12 mm longer than your feet and checking our descriptions for individual models to obtain more information about sizing.

For example, my feet measure 26.3/10 cm, and I wear size 43 or 44 in most Saguaro models (my “usual” size in barefoot shoes is 42).

Saguaro Barefoot Shoes for Adults

Brave I, II and III

If you’re in search of comfortable, waterproof, and budget-friendly barefoot boots, Brave models are among the best we’ve tested. All three models—Brave I, II, and III—are waterproof boots with a similar fit but slightly different designs. Brave III is the highest, and Brave I is the lowest, and they come in various colors.

We recently tested them in some seriously deep water, the kind where you’d normally think, “I need my rain boots.” The upper part got a bit wet, but the water didn’t sneak in. They did an impressive job for such affordable barefoot boots.

Sizing and Fit: The toe box area narrows a tad towards the end, so we’d suggest going up a size for a perfect fit. I’m wearing size 43, with foot dimensions measuring 26.3/10 cm.

Ambition II

Ambition II is the first Saguaro combat boot designed for winter wear. It’s crafted from vegan suede microfiber upper and lined with faux fur. These boots are available in two colors – black and soft pink. While we adore the pink, it might be more prone to dirt. The round laces are easy to adjust, but the black laces are sturdier and don’t tend to “fall down” like the pink ones. The side zipper makes them effortless to put on. The sole is thin, flexible, and provides just the right amount of cushioning.

Sizing & Fit: Ambition is available in sizes up to 43 and follows the size chart accurately. I’m wearing size 42, which is the recommended size for my foot measurements of 26.3/10 cm. These boots are an excellent choice for medium and medium-wide feet, with low to average instep height. If you need more width or volume or plan to wear thicker socks, consider sizing up by one size.

Muse I

Muse I is a new desert boot made from the same vegan microfiber suede as their Ambition II combat boots. While they offer a similar fit in terms of available width, they can feel more voluminous than the Ambition II model. If you have low-volume feet, the material may crease more. They also follow the size chart accurately, and I’m wearing size 42 with foot dimensions of 26.3/10 cm.

Will I

“Will I” is a cozy winter ankle bootie made with a synthetic upper. It features a soft, comfortable fur lining that feels great even when worn without socks. These boots are available in sizes for both kids and adults. While they are not waterproof, they do a decent job of keeping water out for a short time. When we poured water on them, they remained dry, but when fully immersed in a bucket of water, water did seep in through the heel collar. If they do get wet, it takes some time for them to dry out.

The boots have a gusseted tongue for added water resistance. I typically wear a size 42, which is the recommended size for my foot length according to their size chart. However, if you plan to wear thicker socks with them, it’s a good idea to size up by one size. These boots are most suitable for medium and wide feet, but they may not be the best choice for extra-wide feet.

Agile I

Agile I is a slip-on shoe made of breathable synthetic mesh, and it’s particularly comfortable for people with wider feet. These shoes work best if you have an average instep height and average ankles. Even though my feet are a bit shallow and there’s some room above the instep, the shoes still fit securely.

When selecting a size, I recommend going with the one that matches your foot length as per their size chart. In my case, this is size 42, with a foot length of 26.3 cm. One great thing about the Agile I is how easy they are to slip on, and they can be conveniently washed in a washing machine. This makes them an excellent choice for anyone who prefers not to spend too much time getting their shoes on.

Wish I

Wish is a casual sneaker made from synthetic material with a breathable mesh upper, perfect for sunny days. Both the sole and insole are completely zero-drop, but they provide minimal cushioning, especially for beginners. The heel collar is generously padded and feels soft around the ankles. This sneaker is best suited for medium and medium-wide feet. There is minimal tapering at the big toe, so be sure to choose a size with enough space in front of your toes. When it comes to sizing, refer to the size chart and opt for one size larger than the recommended size in the chart.

Wish IV

The Wish IV model from Saguaro has a very similar fit to the Wish I model. This casual sneaker is constructed from synthetic material featuring a breathable mesh upper. Both the sole and insole are completely zero drop, which means that they provide minimal cushioning, especially for beginners. However, the generously padded heel collar feels soft and comfortable around the ankles. These sneakers are best suited for medium and medium-wide feet. Additionally, there’s minimal tapering at the big toe, so make sure you choose a size that provides enough room for your toes. For sizing, please refer to the size chart and consider selecting one size larger than the recommended size indicated on the chart.

Free Walker Luck I

Free Walker Luck I is a mesh sneaker featuring a new, soft, and flexible sole. The thin and flexible insole provides a completely zero-drop experience, making it one of the most minimalistic Saguaro models available. While I typically wear size 43 or 44 in most Saguaro models (my usual size in other brands is 42), this specific model feels longer in the same size. It is recommended to refer to their size chart and select the size that aligns with your foot length. This model is suitable for higher volume feet and comes with longer laces compared to other models. However, if you have shallow and narrow feet, these may not be the best fit for you.

Dream I

The Dream I is a versatile everyday shoe that comes in three distinct colors. It’s made from vegan leather, which closely resembles suede leather in appearance and texture. The insole is thin and completely flat, providing a comfortable and natural feel. The new outsole is soft and flexible, allowing for easy movement. The Dream is best suited for those with medium and medium-wide feet.

Chaser Vitality III & IV

The Chaser Vitality model is a casual sneaker crafted from synthetic materials. It features elastic laces and a large pull loop on the heel for easy on-off. The insole comes with a heel rise and arch support, which can be removed or replaced to achieve a completely zero-drop shoe. This sneaker is best suited for medium and medium-wide feet. For sizing, refer to the size chart provided. The internal length of size 45 is 29.5 cm, so choose your size based on the recommended foot length in their chart.

Nimble I

The Saguaro Nimble I model is a slip-on shoe made from a thin, synthetic upper. It features a velcro strap over the instep, allowing for better adjustment to accommodate different instep heights. The insole includes a heel rise and arch support, which can be removed or replaced to achieve a completely zero-drop shoe. This slip-on shoe is best suited for medium and medium-wide feet. For sizing, go two sizes up from the recommended size in the size chart, as some length may be lost due to the heel shape.

Fast I

The Saguaro Fast model is a casual sneaker crafted from synthetic materials. It features elastic laces with a pull toggle and velcro for adjusting the length of the laces, making it easy to put on and take off. The insole has a minimal heel rise, which can be removed or replaced to achieve a completely zero-drop shoe. This sneaker is best suited for medium and medium-wide feet. For sizing, we recommend choosing one size larger than the recommended size according to their size chart.

Free I

The Saguaro Free model is a casual sneaker made from a stretchable synthetic upper. It features elastic laces for easy on-off. The insole includes a heel rise and arch support, which can be removed or replaced to achieve a completely zero-drop shoe. The outsole has deeper lugs for improved traction. This sneaker is best suited for medium and medium-wide feet. For sizing, refer to the size chart provided. The internal length of size 43 is 28.5 cm, so choose your size based on the recommended foot length in their chart.

Smart I

The Saguaro Smart model is a sneaker made from a mesh synthetic upper, available in various colors. It features elastic laces for easy on-off. The insole includes a heel rise and arch support, which can be removed or replaced to achieve a completely zero-drop shoe. This sneaker is best suited for medium and medium-wide feet. For sizing, refer to the size chart and choose one size larger than the recommended size in the chart.

Vigor I

The Saguaro Vigor model is a casual sneaker made from a synthetic upper. It features a slightly different design, using velcro and elastic laces for closure. The tongue is stitched on one side only. The insole includes a heel rise, which can be removed or replaced to achieve a completely zero-drop shoe. The outsole has deeper lugs for improved traction. This sneaker is best suited for medium and medium-wide feet. For sizing, refer to the size chart and choose one size larger than the recommended size in the chart.

Saguaro Barefoot Shoes for Kids

Vitality I

The Saguaro Vitality model is a casual sneaker designed for kids, made from a synthetic upper. It features elastic laces for easy on-off. The insole includes a heel rise, which we recommend to remove or replace to achieve a completely zero-drop shoe. This sneaker is best suited for medium and wide feet.

For sizing, refer to the size chart and choose two sizes larger than the recommended size in the chart. The values in the size chart correspond to the internal length of the shoe, not the recommended foot length.

Luck I

The Saguaro Luck model is a casual sneaker designed for kids, made from a synthetic upper. It features a combination of elastic laces and velcro for closure, but the elastic laces are only for decoration and are not adjustable. The insole is thicker, providing more cushion, but we recommend replacing it with a thinner, zero drop one. This sneaker is best suited for narrow and medium width feet. The toe box shape has minimal tapering at the big toe and could be improved even further.

For sizing, refer to the size chart and choose two sizes larger than the recommended size in the chart. The values in the size chart correspond to the internal length of the shoe, not the recommended foot length.

Vigor I

The Saguaro Vigor model is a casual sneaker for kids, made from a synthetic upper. It features elastic laces combined with velcro for closure. The insole includes a heel rise, and we highly recommend removing or replacing it to achieve a completely zero-drop shoe. This sneaker is best suited for medium and wide feet. For sizing, refer to the size chart and choose one size larger than the recommended size in the chart.

Nimble I

The Saguaro Nimble model is a slip-on shoe crafted from a thin, synthetic upper. It features a velcro strap over the instep, allowing for better adjustment to accommodate different instep heights. The insole includes a minimal heel rise, which can be removed or replaced to achieve a completely zero-drop shoe. This shoe is best suited for medium and wide feet. For sizing, we recommend choosing two sizes larger than the suggested size in the size chart.

Saguaro Beach & Water Shoes

Abyss II

The Saguaro Abyss model is a slip-on water shoe made from a synthetic upper. It features a zero-drop insole with added holes for quick water drainage. The toe box is not entirely foot-shaped, so we recommend sizing up to gain some extra width. This shoe is best suited for narrow and medium width feet.

Dive II

The Saguaro Dive model is a water shoe with a more structured, shoe-like design compared to other Saguaro water shoes. It features an insole with a heel rise and added holes for quick water drainage. Although it’s a slip-on model, it also includes a velcro strap for better adjustment over the instep. This shoe is best suited for narrow and medium width feet. We recommend choosing a size based on the recommended foot length in their size chart.

Kids Dive II

The Saguaro Dive model is a slip-on water shoe crafted from a synthetic upper, featuring a velcro closure for improved fixation over the instep. It has a zero-drop insole with added holes for quick water drainage. Although the toe box isn’t entirely foot-shaped, it’s best suited for medium width feet. The shoe is best suited for narrow and medium width feet. We recommend choosing a size based on the provided size chart.

  1. Hi,
Thank you for your work! Would you suggest Saguaro for a wet weather country( such as Belgium, uk, ireland, Netherlands, etc..), during automn/winter? I love them for summer, but can’t find any model that seems vaguely water resistant.
    Thanks!

    • Hi,
Thanks so much for reaching out and for your kind words!
As of now, the Saguaro models we’ve tested might not be the best choice for wet conditions during autumn and winter.
However, the Saguaro team might be working on releasing something suitable for wet weather in the following months. So, it’s worth keeping an eye out for any updates from them!

  2. Hi I have been trying to make the switch from Pediped to a barefoot shoe for my 5 year old girl. She has low volume feet, a narrow heel and I’m guessing plateau-like shaped toes and it has been super frustrating so far. I’ve tried splay and ten little shoes and returned them all. I see your review on the child Saguaro Luck model says maybe narrow. Wondering if you’ve actually seen these/used them in person and if you think they might work. Thank you

    • Hi Heather,
In our review, all Saguaro models you see were personally tested by us or our kids. We found that Luck has a narrower toe box shape compared to Splay. Are you experiencing any challenges in achieving a good fit around the ankles or is there another specific area of concern?

  3. Hi, I’m starting off in the barefoot world. I’m from Portugal so the options are scarce here 🙂 would you recommend saguaro (models like Free, Vigor..) for indoor gym training ? Thanks

    • Hi Sara, some styles from Saguaro can also be suitable for indoor gym training, but we don’t have a lot of personal experience with more extensive workouts in the gym.
