Zeazoo YETI Kids – Review

It’s winter and it’s snowing outside. Probably your children are already tempted to go playing in the snow, making a snowman and go sledding. But what to put them on their feet? They need a warm winter boot, but still soft, with enough room for their little toes to spread.
Here is a boot that can be the right one for your kids. Zeazoo Yeti.

Zeazoo Yeti are one of the softest and warmest barefoot boots for kids on the market. They are lined with warm sheepskin and they are extremely in the words of my kids extremely comfortable to wear. They are so pleasant on their feet that my kids are happy to wear them even without socks.

At first, only my eldest son intended to test them, but when the other two saw how soft they were, they both wanted to test them as well.

This time my review was written with the help of my children.

Disclaimer: I bought these shoes myself and as always, all opinions expressed here are my own and you only get my honest review.

2. Material characteristics

2.1 Upper

Zeazoo YETI boots are made from smooth waterproof (hydrophobic) leather. You can choose between two basic models – Yeti lined with wool or Yeti lined with sheepskin.

All my kids models are lined with sheepskin as I really wanted them to have the warmest option.

Boots are partly customizable. You can choose between standard colours, but they are willing to make custom colours too.

You can also choose to add some symbols. My daughter decided to have this little cat on her boots and my son’s boots are more plain.

Our Yeti boots have a velcro closure, but you also have an option with shoelaces. We chose the velcro because it is easier for children to put on their shoes themselves.

Yeti boots have a ‘mocassin’ design, which means the seam runs around the entire upper of the shoe in the front.

Our new boots had toe springs, which didn’t flatten when my kids put the boots on. How we solved this I talk in Toe spring section.

At the top of the boot there are added pull loops, but my kids don’t use them. Boots are very easy to put on without them too.

The sole at the heel part is curved up to add some extra protection to that part.

2.2 Lining

All our pairs are lined with sheepskin. My kids were thrilled when they put their Yeti boots on for the first time. Sheepskin just feels so soft on feet.

What is also great with sheepskin is that it provides an excellent insulation against low temperatures and also absorbs moisture. I think boots lined with sheepskin are one of the warmest boots you can get.

2.3 Sole

You can choose between two different options for the sole. Thinner 6 mm sole, which we have is made from 6 mm Vibram® Superflex rubber. If you want your kid to get the best barefoot experience, I would choose this option.

But if you live in a very cold climate, a thicker 9 mm double-layer sole is the one that I would recommend. It consists of 3 mm microcellular rubber and 6 mm Vibram® Superflex rubber, therefore it provides better insulation.

6 mm Vibram sole is very flexible in both directions. This sole is also used in their Dingo boots, which I reviewed here, so I can confirm that the ground feeling is good in them.

3. Sizing information

3.1 Length

Yeti boots are available in sizes 20-36. For choosing the right size I recommend you to use their size chart and printable template which is available on their website.

My kids foot lengths are 16.1 cm, 19.8 cm and 21.8 cm and they are wearing sizes 27/28, 33 and 36.

According to their size chart they should have 19 mm, 18 mm and 16 mm space inside the boot, but it is slightly less that this.

See my post How much space do we need in shoes if you want to know more about that.

According to my measurement with Plus12 measure, all shoes are around 3-5 mm shorter than this.

3.2 Toe spring

Toe spring is not something that is recommended to have in any shoe. Your toes should lay flat on the floor to prevent injury and ensure balance and stability of your body.

But the Zeazoo Yeti boots had toe springs when I got them. I thought that when my kids will put on the boot, the toe spring won’t be present anymore, but this was not the case.

I wanted to fix this immediately. So, I decided to bend the front part of the shoe in another direction and band it over the night. Next day, the sole was totally flat.

After a few days, boots got some toe spring back, but this was not a problem anymore. Their toes weren’t lifted anymore inside the boot. I could repeat the process once again, but I didn’t feel like it was necessary to do again.

When I completely flattened the sole, boots were true to size, but there was slightly less space above the toes at the end now.

3.3. Toebox shape & width

Zeazoo Yeti has a very good toebox shape. The toebox is square-shaped, which makes them best suited for Roman and Greek foot type. For Egyptian feet they fit the best to those with milder slope towards the little toe.

More about different foot types you can read in my post What is my Foot Type?

Mocassin design creates a lot of space above the toes too and kids will have plenty of space to move.

In Zeazoo size chart, you can’t find any data about the width, but you can find their circumference. All my kids wear regular models, but you can buy wide models too. In a wide model, they will add some millimeters to the circumference, but the sole width will stay the same.

Zeazoo Yeti boots fit the best to medium and wide feet. You can regulate the required circumference of the upper. If your kid fits in standard circumference, you can check with their printable template.

The upper is also designed in the way that it allows spreading to the sides over the sole.

But where is the maximum for me?

Although you can get the required shoe width just by adjusting the upper, I would not recommend that the kids foot hang over the sole, even if the upper allows it. So for me, the width of the shoe is limited by the width of the sole.

As there are no sole widths added on their website, here are our widths:

  • size 27/28: 7.2 cm
  • size 33: 8.3 cm
  • size 36: 8.7 cm

3.4. Fit around the instep, heel and ankle

All my kids have low volume feet with skinny ankles and as you can see in the photos their velcro straps are fully tightened to keep their shoes secure on their feet.

For my kids, I could also try a model with shoelaces as it allows more adjustment, but this one is fine too. My kids are not bothered with longer velcro straps.

4. Comfort

I can just tell here. Zeazoo Yeti are cozy and warm and so soft. My kids really love the feeling of sheepskin touching their feet. Totally no complaints.

5. Water-resistance and warmth

Yeti boots are appropriate for dry, cold weather, but with some tricks you can make them almost waterproof.

The weak point in Yeti boots is the top stitching. The water usually penetrated inside my kids boots there.

My kids wore there in all extreme conditions – water, mud and wet snow. And they always got wet at the same point – in the stitching at the end of the toes.

Therefore I decided to impregnate them. At the beginning I used Nikwax impregnation spray, but it didn’t penetrate deep enough between the stitches to make them waterproof.

After that I decided to use wax. For better effect I recommend you to melt the wax before applying it, so it can penetrate better between the stitching.

Sonja from mini.and.mum also suggested using Collonil leather gel for good results.

If you plan to use the Yeti as snow boots, I recommend using the Yeti in combination with waterproof snow leg gaiters to prevent snow from getting into the shoe from above.

6. How and when to wear them?

I don’t know if there is a situation where they would not be tested. They were muddy, wet and we tested them when sledding in the snow. They are good for any situation.

My kids wear them mostly at home as this is where we are now most of the time.

7. Price & where to buy

Yeti boots can be bought directly from Zeazoo website. The price starts at 83 €.

You can also get 5% discount on all their shoes with my affiliate code BOSENOGICE.

8. Shipping info

Shipping costs depend on the shipping country and the number of items you order. You can choose DHL Express shipping which will cost you 25 € (30 € USA). Economy shipping is 10 € (EU only), but the shoes can take very long to arrive.

9. To sum up

Super soft, warm, easy to clean and easy to put on. This is Zeazoo Yeti. They needed a little adjustment with their toe spring, but this was a quick fix. With a unique moccasin-like design, the boots have a lot of space both above the toes and on the sides.

They are on my kids feet almost every single day. Yes, they are dirty and covered in mud, but this just tells how my kids love wearing them.
