Peerko High Top – Review

This Czech barefoot brand is making me crazy lately with all those new styles they are releasing. I have such a great fit in Peerko shoes that I’m always eager to see each new style and colour from them. High Tops? Oh, yes, please.

If you miss the look of your Converse sneakers which you used to wear in the past then their new High Top model is definitely something for you to try. No more squeezed toes here.

Peerko High Top model is a part of their Peerko 1.0 collection of shoes made from cotton canvas. I already have their low version which I love. This High Top model I received as a total surprise from Peerko before it was even released and I was immediately impressed with them.

Disclaimer: I was sent these shoes as a gift to review and all opinions expressed here are my own. I’m also proud to be a Peerko affiliate and I may receive a small commission if you make a purchase using my discount code BOSENOGICE10 (at no extra cost to you).

2. Material characteristics

2.1 Upper

Peerko High Top shoes are made from cotton canvas and are available in 3 different colours – Sparkly Nero, Midnight Pure and Terakota.

My Peerko colour is Terakota – a mixture of red and orange. The shoes have contrasting black laces and the black sole which makes the colour pop out even more. And I love that.

At the side of the shoes there is a sewn Peerko brand logo – a black feather (Pírko in Czech means feather).

Peerko High Top model has a classic “converse” look. The back heel part has a simple look with an emphasised sole and the collar in black colour.

2.2 Lining

Shoes don’t have any special lining. Mine came with included Actifresh insoles which are offered for a limited time as a gift on their website.

2.3 Sole

The outsole in Peerko shoes is 5 mm thick with the total stack height around 6 mm. The outsole has added small feathers there too.

The sole looks thicker than it actually is. This wide edge is just an optical illusion and shoes can be easily rolled in a bun.

For the first time you would probably need gentle pressure, but the sole gets softer and you can easily bend them in both directions. Also the ground feeling is great in them.

Also check my video for the close-up and to see how they look on my feet.

3. Sizing information

3.1 Length

Peerko 1.0 shoes have a different size chart as Peerko 2.0. I have the same size here as in my Peerko 2.0 (size 42), which I reviewed here, but those are 5 mm shorter than Peerko 2.0 in the same size for example.

Peerko 2.0 size 42 is 27.5 cm, and Peerko 1.0 27 cm. Therefore, I highly recommend you to check the right size chart before ordering.

I also measured the shoes with Plus12 and shoes are true to size.

My feet are 26.3 cm long, which means I have 7 mm space inside the shoe. This is less than 10-12 mm which I usually choose nowadays.

The shoes are a great shape for my foot with a generous toebox shape. Surprisingly, this space is enough for me in this shoe if I wear them on a completely bare feet (the toes never touch the end of the shoe while walking), but I would still choose a larger number for wearing them with socks or insoles in.

See my post How much space do we need in shoes if you want to know more about that.

3.2. Toebox shape & width

As all Peerko shoes also High Top model have a foot-shaped toebox with no tapering at the big toe side.

The shape works great for my Greek foot type, but it also works great for Egyptian foot shapes with milder slope towards the pinky toe.

Shoes fit the best to medium-wide feet. They work for wide feet too, but they don’t allow a lot of spreading to the sides because of the way the outsole is made. You will get plenty of space above the toes too.

More about different foot types you can read in my post What is my Foot Type?

3.3. Fit around the instep, heel and ankle

Peerko High Top shoes can be adjusted well to my skinny ankles and narrow heels, but they can work for feet with higher volumes too.

As you can see my foot fill out the shoes well, but there is still some space left to accommodate feet with more volume too. Take in mind that the eyelets will be wider apart in that case.

4. Comfort

Shoes are really comfortable to wear. No rubbing or digging into my skin anywhere. The material also breathes well.

5. How and when to wear them?

Shoes remind me of Converse Chuck Taylor All Star sneakers, but with a great addition – wonderful toebox shape, which means no squeezed toes in these shoes.

Shoes are definitely appealing to younger audiences and women in their thirties can definitely wear them too.

I like to pair them with my black leggings or a pair of black jeans as this colour really pop-out in combination with black. Sportswear, jeans, chinos, shorts, etc. anything work great with them.

Those are the shoes which I choose when I want a more casual and relaxed look.

6. Price & where to buy

Peerko shoes can be bought at the official Peerko website, but they ship only to selected countries.

For international orders you can buy them at different retailers. Peerko has a whole list of their retailers here.

Full price for Peerko High Top model is 65 € on official the website.

US customers can buy them at PedTerra (affiliated shop) with 10% discount with my affiliate code BOSENOGICE.

7. Shipping info

For international orders, check the retailers and their shipping costs.

8. Where are they made?

All materials used in Peerko shoes come from Europe and shoes are made under ethical conditions in the EU.

9. To sum up

You just can’t stay indifferent with this brand. Peerko has so many to show us. After they released their big hit Peerko 1.0 low model, they just kept coming and coming with new models. First Peerko 2.0 leather shoes and now Peerko 1.0. High Top model. I wonder what you will say about their new winter GO and Empire models 🙂

For sure, Peerko is a wonderful brand for medium and wide feet and their shoes are one of my favourite day-to-day shoes to wear.
